Choose split-type when the optimal solar panel direction differs from the road direction — common in mid-to-high latitude regions (30°N+) where panels need south-facing tilt. Split systems also provide easier maintenance access: the battery box sits at ground level or pole base rather than integrated into the luminaire head. For projects requiring > 80W LED output, split architecture supports larger panel sizes and battery capacities that would be impractical in an all-in-one enclosure.
Each system is custom-sized per project location. Our engineering team uses solar irradiation databases (NASA POWER, Meteonorm) to calculate the worst-month energy budget for your site. We then size the PV panel wattage and battery capacity to maintain full nightly operation through the lowest-sunshine month while accounting for 3-4 consecutive overcast days. Simply provide your project GPS coordinates and we deliver a complete sizing report with DIALux lighting simulation.
